Skills
Reid has an eidetic memory which allows him to retain a large volume of information with great detail. He’s great at reading maps and normally does all of the geographical profiling for the team. Not so great at shooting, though his marksmanship has improved since his early days in the BAU.

Work History
Reid was directly recruited into the BAU by the FBI at 22.

Personality
Kind at heart, Reid is all sorts of awkward but it’s one of his endearing qualities. He often forgets when it is and isn’t appropriate to reel off facts and statistics, which can make other people uncomfortable. He has been held hostage on the job on a number of occasions, the worst being when Tobias Hankel tortured and drugged him. This resulted in Reid becoming addicted to dilaudid, which he later sought help for.

He made reference to being bullied while in high school a couple of times. The most humiliating moment being when he was stripped naked and tied to a goal post in front of the football team and the girl he had a crush on. Being a child prodigy was a lonely experience for Reid, but being part of the BAU has helped him overcome this. They’re his chosen family.

In the past Reid has admitted to Morgan that he knows what it’s like to be afraid of your own mind. This is due to the fact that his mother suffers from schizophrenia, a condition which has a genetic link.

First Impression
When on cases, the team always introduces him as Dr Reid so that he can garner some respect from the local PD. His young and sometimes nervous appearance can cause people not to take him seriously both in his professional and personal life.

Physical description
Tall, and lanky with near shoulder length hair that is a little untidy.

Manner of Dress
Geek chic... okay, maybe not the chic. Sweater vests, waistcoats and cardigans that are too big for him are his love. He also never wears matching socks.

Family Situation
At the age of eighteen Spencer had his mother placed in a mental institution for her own well being and safety as he recognised that they way she lived was not healthy. His father abandoned them when Reid was a child as he couldn’t cope with Reid or his wife’s illness any longer, but it is later revealed that his father lived only 10 minutes from his old family home and collected every article ever published relating to his son’s achievements. By his father’s own confession he revealed that he had murdered paedophile, Gary Brendan Michaels who had approached a then four year old Spencer during a game of chess. The man was likely already responsible for the death of another young boy, Riley Jenkins.

He is also Godfather to JJ’s son, Henry.

Sexual Orientation: He likes women; they just don’t always like him.
